BODMIN FUNERAL SERVICES
FROM ITS BEGINNINGS TO THE PRESENT DAY

ESTABLISHED in 1993 as Bodmin’s only independent Funeral Directors, Bodmin Funeral Services, owned and managed by Angus and Paula MacKinnon.

From their beginnings in rented premises in Pound Lane, then to Bell Lane, until finally in 2004 they were able to move to their own purpose-built funeral home at Old Wall Lodge in Castle Canyke Road. This was a major achievement in the life of BFS offering privacy and modern facilities.

For 32 years Angus and Paula worked together serving the community of Bodmin and the surrounding area. Funeral directing is a profession built not only around practical responsibilities, but also around compassion, dignity and trust at some of the most difficult moments in peoples’ lives. They proudly understand the importance of providing a funeral tailored to the unique wishes of the deceased, whilst at the same time supporting the family in their grief and they both believe it is a privileged vocation.

 

Since the passing of Angus on 30th January 2025, his influence remains an important part of the BFS story. Angus’ years of service and contribution to the business forms part of that tradition and his absence marks not simply the loss of an individual, but an important chapter in the story of a local independent funeral director.

 

Although he is no longer here to carry out the role himself, his legacy will endure and the principles and standards associated with him and Bodmin Funeral Services will remain as his wife Paula and the team continue with the commitment to providing families with a personal and respectful service.
